I met Alex at a very... insane point in my life.

I guess I used to have this fear that once I was past a certain age, I wouldn't stumble across people who I connected to in any kind of meaningful way. That all the important relationships and special people in my life had to have been met by the time I was in my mid-20s. Essentially, that amazing surprises wouldn't happen past a certain point.

I'm pretty happy Alex proved me wrong in that belief.
