| I don't know why I've written so much poetry. It was never something I was particularly interested in while growing up; I didn't walk around reading collections of poems. After I came out, though, I started writing a journal and often the journal would change from prose to poetry because, I guess, prose is rational and structured and... well, not very raw and what I was feeling at the time was a need to say, "Fuck you" to the rules of the world. I needed a way to express myself where I could break all those rules... and poetry was it.
It's some of the best writing I've ever done.
