You Both Are

You both are
Two halves of one soul—
Bound not by state or church,
But instead by love and understanding.
Bound not by pomp and circumstance,
Or tradition,
But by honesty, compassion, and acceptance.

Love is loud:
It tears apart nations and destroys lives.
Love is quiet:
It stops the flow of tears and heals heartache.
Your love is both a whisper and a shout;
A declaration of intent and a statement of fact;
A peaceful evening at home and a wild party on the town.

With this do I charge you both:
Let your love for one another
Bring you ever closer together.
Let it stop the flow of your tears and heal your heartaches.
Let it shield and protect you
As you both must shield and protect one another.

Remember:
Your love is the truth
And the truth will always set you free.
